Secret of the Jinchuuriki

It’s a bit hard for Chiyo to believe that Yuura would be the one attacking Team Kakashi since he’s been loyal to Suna for four years. At first, both Team Kakashi and Team Gai believe that the two shinobi fought them with a simple Henge (transformation), but it’d have to be a pretty high level jutsu in order to pull off the Uchiha clan’s exclusive fire style jutsu. Kisame and Itachi had to donate thirty percent of their chakra in order to create the clones, and while this may have bought them some time, the clones weren’t able to be as effective as they could have been. The two return their focus to the extraction of Shukaku from Gaara. The Leader congratulates the two on delaying the teams and sends Zetsu to dispose of the bodies, but Sasori is the one in a sour mood since the bodies needed for Shouten no Jutsu (Shape Shifting Technique) were his subordinates.

Chiyo concludes that Akatsuki’s delaying of the teams is to allow them more time to extract the Bijuu (tailed beast) from Gaara and create another Jinchuuriki. Even though the power of a Bijuu is nearly uncontrollable, people have gone through endless means to use them for their own purposes. This was done by sealing the Bijuu in humans so its power could be suppressed. Once the Bijuu is extracted, the host will die, just like the other two Jinchuuriki from Suna apart from Gaara. Chiyo takes note of all of this and sends a messenger bird back to Suna. Sakura is moved to tears by this, but Naruto keeps that ever confident grin on his face and assures her that everything’s going to be all right.

Ebizou gets the message and word of it spread quickly. It makes sense to the others that Yuura was a spy because Suna’s defenses wouldn’t have been so easily penetrated otherwise. And besides, who really suspects a captain of being a spy? Anyway, none of this matters because Chiyo never mentioned if Gaara would be coming back or not. If the other nations found out that not only was Suna’s Kazekage is missing, but that one of the enemies they were fighting was Akasuna no Sasori (Sasori of the Red Sands), great shame would be brought upon Suna. Therefore, they should elect a new Kazekage, but this causes a huge argument amongst everyone else who feels that it’s too soon to even consider Gaara being replaced. However, some feel that it’d be better to replace Gaara because of his deadly abilities and how he could lose it at any given moment. Besides, most of the villagers who know the truth about Gaara don’t hold high hopes for him anyway.

The elder who is speaking now is cut off when Kankuro seizes him by his robe and lashes at him for insulting Gaara in such a way, but he’s quickly stopped. It’s easy to understand Kankuro’s anger, but there is some validity to what everyone is saying about Gaara since a situation like this has happened before. When the Third Kazekage was kidnapped, various things began to happen: no one was that focused on finding his body and many didn’t want to believe that their strongest shinobi could be killed. Therefore, nothing like this must happen again. This would explain the need for border patrols. The reason for Temari being selected over Kankuro is because he was poisoned.

The Akatsuki Leader has Itachi tell the others who he faced, and Sasori is surprised when he hears that Chiyo, his own grandmother, was one of them.

Elsewhere, Temari and four other shinobi arrive at some unnamed location and will each take twenty four hour shifts guarding it.

The battle has taken its toll on Naruto (who isn’t used to using Oodama Rasengan yet) and Gai (who exhausted his strength using Asu Kujaku). This isn’t helped when Gai runs into a tree branch and crashes. Both teams, in their respective locations, decide to take a break since it would be easier to travel when they are at full strength. They’ll need to be at their best if there’s the possibility that they’ll be battling actual Akatsuki members later on.

Under the light of a full moon, Zetsu disposes of the two bodies by consuming them.
