Power of Uchiha

Indeed, Sasuke has severed all bonds with his former comrades because the type of bond he has is different.

His bond is a long, deep hatred of his brother. All other bonds caused him to lose focus and kept him from achieving his goal and greatest desire.

Sasuke thinks back to his battle with Naruto at the Valley of the End. What would Naruto know about Sasuke's pain, what he went through? Naruto never even grew up with parents to know, so how would he have known what it felt like to lose them?

The truth is he wouldn't, but even though Naruto never grew up with a real family, Sasuke was the one with whom Naruto had a great connection, so that's why he went so far to stop Sasuke…and failed.

But if Sasuke is adamant about severing bonds with Naruto, why didn't he kill him when he had the chance? After all, what better way to sever bonds with another person than to kill them? It isn't that Sasuke couldn't sever the bond; he just chose not to do it by Itachi's methods. By killing those closest to him, Sasuke would gain the Mangekyou Sharingan, just as Itachi did.

On that day when Chidori and Rasengan clashed at the Valley of the End, when Sasuke stumbled into darkness and left Naruto for dead, Sasuke let Naruto live on a whim.

Before anyone can do anything, Sasuke appears in front of Naruto with newfound speed. He reminds Naruto that if his dream is to become the Hokage, he could've spent all of this time training instead of looking for him. So this time, Sasuke says as he withdraws his sword, Naruto will lose his life at Sasuke's whim. Naruto responds by saying that someone who couldn't save their friend isn't worthy of becoming Hokage.

Sasuke's stab is intercepted by Sai. As Yamato attacks with one of his wood jutsus, Sasuke counters with an original move of his own:

"Chidori Nagashi!"

As opposed to a concentrated point of chakra, lightning flies in all directions, sending Naruto and Sai in different directions and countering Yamato's jutsu.

Sakura, watching her former comrade who she must consider an enemy, thinks back to how she told Naruto that next time, she would help him save Sasuke. Now she has the chance. With chakra flowing through her fist, Sakura rushes forward to stop Sasuke with her own hands. Before Sasuke can stop her, Yamato intervenes, but both his kunai and body are pierced by Sasuke's lightning infused blade. As Yamato feels Sasuke press the blade further into his body, he feels everything go numb all of a sudden. Sasuke's blade, Kusanagi, is special in that nothing can counter it.

Elsewhere, Yamato's clone disappears and Kabuto escapes his binds with ease.

Familiar gates appear before Naruto as a familiar voice tells him that this is his chance to show Sasuke his strength…their strength.

Naruto is hesitant and does not jump at the opportunity to use the Kyubi's power, as he has before. Instead of telling the Kyubi who he wants to kill, Naruto tells him that he does not want to see his face or use his power anymore. However, the Kyubi reminds Naruto that HE was the one who always asked the Kyubi to give him power. All Naruto has to do is remove the seal and the Kyubi's power will be his. Before Naruto can silence the beast…

Sasuke is next to him and the Kyubi is not unfamiliar with the eyes of an Uchiha. At last, Sasuke has a chance to see the source of Naruto's monstrous strength.

The Kyubi notes Sasuke's sinister eyes and chakra…even more sinister than the Kyubi itself. They're similar to that of one Uchiha Madara. With a grab and a thrust, the Kyubi bursts and remnants drift about. Its voice still carries as it warns Sasuke not to kill Naruto…or he will regret it.

Back in the real world, Yamato forces the sword of Kusanagi out of him, but he is unable to stop Sasuke, who retreats back to the cliffs and prepares for round two.
