Nightmare

Somewhere, a powerful force rips begins to rip through the doors at the entrance to an unknown village. The citizens inside the village, unable to overcome the force, either are eaten or forced to run away from the transforming monstrosity before them. The transformation completes as the Kyubi begins to embark on a rampage-

Then Naruto wakes up. He rises from bed and heads outside before staring at his palms, wondering why he had that dream.

In Konoha's library, Sai has his head in the books to improve his social skills. The books range from topics on honorific suffixes and creating friendships through politeness.

Not far from Sai is Sakura, but Sai is embarrassed to reveal what he is reading to Sakura. Sakura is on her with Naruto to visit Kakashi and asks if Sai wants to come since he hasn't introduced himself to Kakashi yet.

Naruto is still reeling over his dream, Sasuke, the Kyuui's suppression, everything that just occurred. Why is he having these dreams and how can he get rid of them?

Sakura arrives and, much to Naruto's disappointment for a date, brings Sai with her. Sai oversees the argument between the two and notices that Sakura does not use any honorifics for Naruto. Though this is normal for Naruto and Sakura, Sai sees this as a chance to enter the conversation. He drops the honorifics and admits that he could not think of any nicknames, but to Naruto, nicknames come naturally based on the person's characteristics.

Therefore, Sai decides to dub Sakura "Ugly" (or hag, you be the judge).

And it takes one bruised cheek from Naruto to keep Sakura from ripping Sai in two.

But Sai's mark is just as red when he meets Kakashi, who questions Sakura about the bruises on Naruto and Sai's cheeks.

Yamato has already informed Kakashi about the failed mission to retrieve Sasuke, so he's spent his recovery time coming up with a plan. Since Sasuke's abnormal development has increased his strength, getting stronger over a period of time is out of the option. So, Kakashi's training plan, which is only suited for Naruto, will guarantee Naruto great strength in a short amount of time. How? Naruto is going to create his own jutsu that is even more powerful than the Rasengan.

But before Kakashi can go into details on this plan, Team Asuma enters. Ino takes a liking to Sai, Shikamaru offers his assistance for the next mission, and Chouji just wolfs down chips. To get the teams away- save for Shikamaru, who lingers around- so he can talk to Kakashi, Asuma offers them barbecue on his dollar, so they all leave and Naruto will have to hear about the training later since Kakashi is still in the hospital.

At the barbecue restaurant, Sai's attempts to make a good first impression with nicknames are thwarted when he prepares to call Chouji "fat." Naruto stops Sai before he brings on his own death again. So he tries Ino. Remembering his experience with Sakura, Sai realizes that if you tell a girl how it is and use her real- according to him- characteristics, she will go ballistic. Therefore, you have to lie.

Sakura (and Inner Sakura) realize that this could play into her hands if Sai says the wrong thing, but Sai does the complete opposite and calls Ino "gorgeous."

It would be an understatement to say that Sakura was jealous as opposed to enraged to the point where she starts another one sided fight.

Elsewhere, the landscape changes in an unknown area as a pair of unfamiliar faces come across the wrong location.
