Naruto Movie Guide

Here is some general information about the Naruto movies released and also ones due to release.

Naruto: Daikatsugeki! Yukihime Ninpoucho! & Konoha Undoukai
Date Released : August 21st, 2004
English Title: Naruto: Furious Action! The Snow Princess Ninja Chronicles & The Konoha Athletic Meet!
Info: The movie begins with a heroine previously unknown in the Naruto continuity: Princess Fuun. Fuun's nemesis, Mao, challenges her group with an army of undead soldiers. His dark intentions seem to prevail, that is, until Princess Fuun and her cohorts, Shishimaru, Brit, and Tsukuyaku, unleash the power of the Seven-Color-Chakra upon him. They save the day, and Naruto, watching from afar, couldn't be more elated.

As it turns out, Naruto is partially imagining the situation. He is actually watching the scene in a movie, as is the rest of Team 7. But then, the audience of the movie starts to throw objects at the team for making so much noise while arguing with the cinema manager. Kakashi had sent them to watch it as preparation for their next mission: guarding Fujikaze Yukie, the actor who plays Princess Fuun, while she makes the next movie in the Snow Country. As it turns out, Yukie is actually the princess of the Snow Country, which was taken over by rogue ninja when she was a child. The leader of the rogue ninja, Doto Kazahana, wants Yukie's crystal necklace to unlock the Snow Country's treasure, which Yukie's father had hidden before being assassinated. After various battles between Team 7 and the rogue ninja, resulting in the defeat of all and the death of Nadare their leader, Doto succeeds in obtaining Yukie's necklace, only to discover that the "treasure" of the Snow Country is a generator designed to melt the snow and bring Spring to the country. Doto is then defeated by Naruto in a manner reminicient of Princess Fuun's defeat of Mao.

With the rogue ninja all gone,Yukie becomes the princess of the Snow Country, which will eventually become the Spring Country after the technology behind the generator is perfected. Despite being a princess, Yukie intends to continue acting, and the next film she's starring in is an adaptation of one of Jiraiya's Icha Icha novels, much to Kakashi's surprise.

Naruto: Daigekitotsu! Maboroshi no Chitei Iseki Dattebayo!
Date Released : August 6th, 2005
English Title: Naruto: Furious Clash! The Phantom Ruins in the Depths of the Earth!
Info: The movie takes place after the Sasuke Retrieval arc, but before the timeskip.

The movie opens with a battle taking place at night on a desolate seaside beach between Sand-nin and soldiers wearing bulky suits of armor (apparently European in influence). Despite their best efforts, the Sand-nin are slowly overwhelmed by the sheer strength of their mysterious opponents. The timely arrival of reinforcements led by Kankuro and Gaara evens out the odds, Kankuro slicing apart a suit of armor with his puppet, and Gaara dispatching a large number of enemies en masse with his signature Desert Imperial Funeral. However, when Gaara orders the Sand-nin to shine a flare at the retreating enemies, a large warship which resembles a pre-WWI-era dreadnought (SEE: French battleship Redoutable) arrives to reinforce them. The ship then opens fire with some kind of missiles and Gaara's sand armor barely manages to protect his comrades.

The movie stars Naruto, Shikamaru, and Sakura as they deliver a lost pet to its village. However, a mysterious knight called Temujin intercepts them and they fight, causing both to be knocked off a cliff. Then, the group becomes separated, and Shikamaru stumbles upon an enormous mysterious moving fortress.

Naruto wakes up to find himself injured in a caravan. He also finds Temujin asleep beside him. When Temujin awakens the lost pet seems to be attracted to him. The caravan is part of a moving county.

Meanwhile Sakura and Shikamaru split up to search for Naruto. Shikamaru spies on the fortress and finds a lab with children in capsules and two girls with the same armor Temujin was wearing talking about the Gelel Stone

The movie revolves mostly around a special mineral called the Gelel Stone, which has a strong and mysterious power. There was once a clan that could control the stone's powers (the traveling caravan and Temujin are part of this clan), but they were destroyed because of fights for the stone.

Naruto: Daikoufun! Mikadzukishima no Animaru Soudou Dattebayo
Date Released : August 5th, 2006
English Title: Great Excitement! The Animal Riot of Crescent Moon Island
Info: The movie takes place after episode 196. Footage of this movie is seen in the opening of episode 197. Naruto Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake, Sakura Haruno, and Rock Lee are assigned to protect the prince of the Land of the Moon during his world trip. The Land of the Moon is a very wealthy nation, so the prince tends to buy whatever he wants, and isn't too quick to follow the directions of his escorts. When the group happens to come across a circus with a rare sabertoothed tiger, he ends up purchasing not only it, but the rest of the animals as well. Now the team has to look over both the spoiled prince and his newly-acquired pets. On top of that, three powerful ninja are hunting them.

Clips of the movie show Naruto, Sakura and Lee exhibiting some new skills, at least in the context of the anime. Sakura can enhance her strength as shown when fighting one of the ninja. She was able to punch a hole in the wall, Lee use of nunchakus, which Might Guy uses in Naruto: Shippūden.

If the movie were to take place during the anime timeline, it would have to take place during the filler arcs between part 1 and part 2, after the Sasuke Retrieval Arc and sometime before the end of part 1 of the anime/manga.
