A Fake Smile

So Sai looks like Sasuke. So he may have some of his characteristics and tone of voice when he speaks.

So what.

As the team continues, Naruto refuses to acknowledge Sai’s place as a member of Team Kakashi since he is only Sasuke’s replacement. Despite running off to serve Orochimaru, Naruto still believes that the empty gap in Team Kakashi should only be filled by Sasuke. Sai is fine with this since he does not want to be placed in the same category as a runaway like Sasuke.

Before a fight breaks out, Sakura intervenes and tells Naruto not to get angry. Sai is a new member and there will be tension, so she apologizes on Naruto’s behalf.

This is before she punches Sai a few feet and states that she does not need to be forgiven. Should Sai make a remark like that again, Sakura swears that she won’t hold back, and since she displays so many of Tsunade’s attributes- as early pointed out by Shizune- it’s a threat she can live up to. Sai, however, is surprised that he fell for Sakura’s fake smile and tells the two that a smile is the best way to get out of a bad situation, such as the present one, but he isn’t as good as he thought he was if Sakura still punched him.

Yet another fight is about to break out when Yamato uses Shichuurou no Jutsu (Four Column Jutsu) and creates a giant cage with a jutsu that the First Hokage knew. He plans to throw Naruto, Sakura, and Sai in the cage if they cannot stop bickering or they can spend the night in a hot spring. Even though Yamato likes to solve situations fairly, he can- as exhibited by his “scary face,” use more extreme measures if the situation calls for one.

So in the hot spring, the guys do a bit of male bonding, though Naruto’s manhood comes into question again when he stands up. Naruto’s yells are heard by all of the women, including Sakura, on the other side of the hot spring and before Naruto can go over there, Yamato tells him about the time Jiraiya almost died: he tried to peek at Tsunade, who returned the favor by breaking a few of his ribs, arms, and internal organs. So what would make Sakura do any different?

When the team regroups, they are treated to a spread out dinner and they’re quite satisfied. Naruto and Sakura hope that Yamato remains the captain if it means they can eat as well as they are now.

Back in Konoha, Kakashi sneezes and is still unable to eat solid food, much to his disappointment.

The next morning, Sai is the first one up and heads off with his sketchbook for unknown reasons.

And the only one who sees him is Sakura.
